Environmental Issues

BlackRhinoceros is an international resource for activism in all areas of environmental concern. The 'Actions' promoted on this site are updated or checked daily. The web of almost universally interlinked green issues is divided into these six areas or categories:

    biodiversity: uphold animal rights and the survival of threatened and endangered species; advocate safe food
    conservation: promote the reuse and recycling of materials, energy and resources
    energy: work for safe, renewable and efficient sources of energy; halt global warming
    environmental justice: expose and oppose corporate abuse; work with those safeguarding indigenous people and sustainable population growth
    habitat: preserve and regenerate invaluable natural habitats by world region and by ecological type
    pollution: reduce destruction of the atmosphere and water systems as well as chemical and industrial damage and noise pollution

These issues pages on this site aggregate key factual and campaign points category by category.

Because of the overlap between many areas of environmental issues many Actions appear more than once in the BlackRhinoceros Actions pages. For example the destruction of coastline for offshore oil-drilling is relevant to each of Energy and Pollution, Habitat and Conservation; all relevant Actions will appear in all four categories.

For the sake of clarity, information about each issue is presented only once in this (Issues) section, however. Try searching for particular terms and concepts if they do not appear in the category you expect.
